“STONE HEN” INFORMATION

Stone Hen is located in the seaside village of Watch Hill. It is an easy walk to two beautiful, sandy beaches and an historic carousel as well as several restaurants and small shops. It is a 5 mile drive to Westerly to buy groceries, gas, etc. Stone Hen was built in 1901. It is a classic Victorian shingle style cottage. It was originally built as part of the Ocean House Hotel and called Intercrest. The old service call box is still in the kitchen. For 60 years, it has been owned by the Saglio family. Because of the family’s involvement with the chicken industry, we renamed the house Stone Hen.

The house is furnished with antique wicker and other period furniture. It has seven bedrooms and four and a half baths. Gardens surround the house with hydrangeas, roses and perennials.

Stone Hen is built on top of a hill. It gets wonderful sea breezes all summer. We have no air conditioning. As it is strictly a summer “cottage”, there is no heat either. It does, however, have 3 TVs with cable and broadband access. There is a microwave in the fully equipped kitchen and two washers and dryers in the basement. The parking is behind the house and is shared with the owner’s house next door. It is accessed by going up stairs from the driveway. The basement courtyard has an outside shower and clotheslines for drying bathing suits and towels. There is also a Gas Grill there.
